Not far from Clifton Hill Station in Collingwood, The Fox is one of Melbourne's oldest pubs; but after several name changes and a fire, the place wouldn't be recognisable to early patrons. The hotel is now decked out in an adorably '90s theme and serves pub grub and a mammoth range of beer, which should all be enjoyed with the city views on the rooftop.
This cunningly versatile pub turned modern eatery has a relaxed, welcoming vibe. The comprehensive food menu includes its now famous Vegetarian Burrito, roasted Pork Belly plus Bug and Prawn Gyoza - with vegetarians, vegans and those with food allergies never overlooked. Monday’s $15 Parma night gets you over humpday, Tuesday is $15 Steak night, and DJs add elation Friday and Saturday evenings. Sundays are popular for the $22 two course roast and $12 jugs of Brunswick Bitter. Beer is revered with 100 different varieties chilled in the fridge, as well as rotating taps that showcase top local and intermational microbrews - from which $6 pints are poured between 4-6pm weekdays. Rain, hail or shine The Fox has it covered: pass the time in summer on sunny street seating as DJs spin tunes, then thaw out in winter with hearty food by the fireplace. Everthing you love about The Fox on Montague is a spitting image of her notorious older sister: The Fox Hotel in Collingwood.
