Affectionately named after the public ferry service in Venice, Vaporetto in Hawthorn takes diners straight to the canals of the charming Italian city. Established in an old tobacco shop, chandeliers of handblown Murano glass dazzle from the ceiling, and a bar rests behind a long slice of white marble. The eatery of where Venice meets Melbourne will showcase dishes of salami's, heirloom vegetables and seasonal seafood in a casual homely atmosphere. The Bar is designed to be as though you have stepped out of some back alleyway in Venice, in some venerable era. You enter through an old tobacco shopfront from Venice and are greeted by dark timbers, handblown Murano chandeliers, marble, aged brass, leather banquettes and stylish bartenders. You will sip on traditional Venetian cocktails in crystal cut glassware as well as stunning creations, which give a little nod to Venice’s intricate history.
