This perpetually packed restaurant on Flinders Lane serves fast paced, street-inspired Asian cuisine. The adventurous menu, under the guidance of executive chef Benjamin Cooper, has been designed with the hawker dining halls of Bangkok in mind, featuring shared plates great for communal dining. While the menu takes guidance from South East Asia, the wine list has an all-Australian focus. For indecisive diners, Chin Chin offers a "feed me" option – which includes a random selection of dishes. No bookings can be made under ten people.
The pace at which Chin Chin earned its place in Melbourne’s cultural tapestry was astonishing. In 2011 we set out on a mission to democratise dining by creating a social hub where every guest was equal, and even on the busiest of nights got to dine with us. Today, this is still the case and has seen us open our doors in Surry Hills, Sydney.
