East Melbourne cafe Hard Pressed is about two things: French press coffee and Latino-inspired sandwiches. The breakfast menu features the likes of hot blueberry corn cakes and pan-fried snapper, but the real hero is the lunch menu, which is bursting with gourmet sanwiches: hunks of ciabatta bread stuffed with 20-hour beef brisket, braised venison mole or spicy school prawns. A comfortable little cafe which is pretty middle of the road in terms of charm, decor, location and food. French press coffee, brekkie and Latin-style sandwiches, in a hip space with exposed-brick walls.
