House of Maximón, named after Central America's legendary protector of lost souls, is an eclectic drinking den full of temptation and indulgence. Located discretely in Melbourne's CBD, the quirky aesthetic was designed to show what a journey into the afterlife might entail (that is, of course, if life began in a neon-lit saloon). So anything from taxidermy chickens in glass boxes to Guatemalan zombies is considered acceptable. The menu features seasonal pintxos platters, spiced popcorn and nachos, whilst the drinks are even more devilish with voodoo sangria, micheladas (beer Bloody Marys), imported Mexican brews and tequila. Brace yourself for a night of debauchery. House of Maximón features late-night dancing, lowbrow ‘makeshift’ cocktails, cold cured meats, pinxtos and spiced popcorn, all delivered to a debaucherous crowd. All under the watchful eye of infamous Central American deity San Simon (an icon otherwise known as Maximón).
