The Grade II listed Brighton Hotel is one of the most charming hotels in Brighton where you are guaranteed a warm and personal welcome.  It is located on the seafront directly opposite the famous Brighton Bandstand and very close to the West Pier and to the site of the British Airways i360 attraction.

We are just a short walk to Brighton’s main shopping areas, the famous Lanes with its cobbled passage ways and its myriad of little shops and boutiques, many of which are unique to Brighton. The Brighton Conference Centre is a five minute stroll away and we are literally a stone’s throw from the beach. The Brighton Hotel is a privately owned independent hotel that is large enough to have all the facilties you would expect but small enough to make you feel important to us and special.

The hotels elegant lounge, bar and restaurant have enviable sea views, a great place to relax and watch the world go by. We have 55 well-appointed rooms at the Brighton hotel, and while the hotel is right on the famous Brighton seafront it is just far enough out of the main centres noisy bars and clubs to be significantly quieter than many other seafront Brighton hotels. High speed wireless internet access is available free of charge in all our rooms and public areas.

We aim to make The Brighton Hotel and website accessible to all users and therefore intend to follow certain standards and government guidelines to ensure that our hotel and website can be used as effectively and easily as possible by everyone.

There are 55 bedrooms at this hotel; there are currently no wheelchair accessible Bedrooms at The Brighton Hotel. Details of the plans regarding accessible room are provided further on. Advice about evacuation should you need assistance (in the unlikely event of an emergency) should be discussed directly with the hotel. An evacuation chair with a safe working load (SWL) of 150kg is available beside the designated accessible bedroom. At present access to the Lowy Suite is only possible by stairs there is no access for wheelchairs. If a wheel chair user wishes to gain access a removable ramp is available although assistance is likely to be required to do this.

We have 11 spaces available at the hotel which are offered on a first come first served basis with one Disabled Bay. There is also a multi-storey car park 500 yards from the hotel called The Regency Square Car Park which is operated by Brighton & Hove City Council. There are 507 spaces available. This car park has been awarded a Park Mark for safer parking. Disabled parking bays are available but Blue Badge holders are not entitled to park here for free. NB. There is a height restriction of 7’2” (or 2.13m) in this car park.

From the hotel car park, there is a ramp which is 646 mm long x 523 mm wide, leading to the lobby door which is 584 mm clear opening. Assistance may be required by some to gain access to the Reception lobby

A similar ramp is provided to access the Lowy Suite. Again, assistance may be required by some to gain access to the Lowy Suite

The lift doors have a 769 mm clear opening, with 4276 mm clear space opposite the doors, and clear floor space of 1169 mm x 769 mm in the lift. Lift controls are up to 892 mm high. 

On the seafront (King’s Road), there is a drop-off point outside the hotel, about 1815 mm from the entrance. The doors are currently 584 mm clear opening each. There is a threshold of 1015 mm at the doorways.

The ramp is 646 mm long with a gradient of 1:12 or 940mm, and 523 mm wide at the narrowest point. There are currently no handrails on the ramp. Alternatively there are 3 steps – each 461 mm high up to the entrance, currently without handrails.

Reception

Reception is in front of the main entrance to the hotel from the car park on King’s Road, and there is a large, open space within the lobby in front of the reception desk. The counter is 769 mm high. There is seating available in the area. There’s an induction loop available at the hotel reception desk. On check-in, disabled guests will be asked to complete a Personal Evacuation Plan Questionnaire in consultation with the Duty Manager.

All information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence. If you are likely to require assistance in the unlikely event of an evacuation please do notify us on arrival. We would also ask guests with a hearing loss to let us know so that we can provide assistive equipment during your stay.

Breakfast Room Restaurant

There is step free access to our Breakfast room Restaurant. Staff will provide assistance to those who need it. There is seating without armrests only and clear space beneath tables of at least 738 mm. There is currently no accessible Toilet in the public areas. 9476 mm long x 1261 mm wide

Lift

There is lift access between the reception area and all bedrooms. The size of the lifts is mm deep 1169 mm x 769 mm wide minimum. The lifts have automatic sliding doors 769 mm clear opening that are fitted with sensors Lift controls are a maximum of 2061 mm high and have tactile buttons. There is a handrail and a mirror at the rear of the lifts. There is a visual display to advise which floor the lift is on. A symbol suggests that the emergency communication point is fitted with an inductive coupler for hearing aid users.

Conference & Meeting Rooms

Access to the Lowy Suite is the Breakfast Room Restaurant. The staircase to the Lowy Suite has 4 x steps accompanied by handrails. A removable ramp of 1:12 or 940 mm which is 646 mm long x 523 mm wide, leading to the Lowy Suite which is 584 mm clear opening. Staff will provide assistance to those who need it.

Accessible Bedrooms

There are currently no wheelchair accessible Bedrooms at the The Brighton Hotel, but there are plans within the next 6-12 months to have 1-2 rooms adapted. Once they have been adapted we will update this document accordingly.

Your health, comfort and safety are of the utmost importance to us, therefore hotel staffs have received disability awareness training. Please do contact our Duty Manager if there is something that needs our attention. We will endeavour to ensure that your individual needs are met wherever reasonably possible. However, as with all hotels, some services and equipment are subject to operational constraints (e.g.: lifts and other access equipment requiring service at short notice).
