Nestled between vintage clothing stores and second-hand bookshops in Fitzroy, one of Melbourne's most alternative suburbs, is vegan-cafe Smith and Daughters. Owners Mo Wyse and Shannon Martinez have made it their mission to challenge the perfect that vegan dining is bland with a Latino menu offering spicy south-of-the-border dishes. Visit with an open mind and you may just be converted, well, at least for a night. They're open late all week, perfect for late night cocktail shenanigans.
Smith & Daughters is the collaboration of two women with a strong commitment to bring the world delicious food.
Shannon Martinez, award-winning, former head chef of Sweet Water Inn, South, and The Gasometer among others, combines her talents with the business and marketing logistical mind of Mo Wyse to undertake their best challenge yet - creating their own restaurant. Being in the service industry for a combined 35 years - these two gals are proud to bring you Smith & Daughters.
Martinez and Wyse share the common goal for creating a truly beautiful space to enjoy great food. In their new home, a historic bluestone corner property on Brunswick Street Smith & Daughters will bring Latin-inspired cuisine highlighting dishes from Mexico, Columbia, Peru, Spain and more. Great coffee, sweets, takeaway, weekend brunch, too.
And the unique angle, these gals will bring all this without a single animal product on site. Truly plant-based, natural and organic when possible. Smith & Daughters is as compassionate as they are empowered.
