From the famed Toko group comes the fourth instalment of the brand's signature Japanese “izakaya” dining style, this time in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran. Toko Melbourne offers diners the iconic experiences Toko is known for, including incredible quality and attention to detail on every plate. A sushi bar allows you to watch the skills of the chefs or wander into the Japanese garden, where you'll find a whisky bar and an extensive sake menu.
Tokosan, Toko’s cheeky kid sister, offers a fast-casual dining experience set against a cool Japanese street style backdrop.
Vibe
Tokosan creates a friendly, warm atmosphere. Inside is a decoration of fun Japanese collage artworks and a sea of vibrant umbrellas and giant chopsticks hanging from the ceiling. Outside, with a 16m-long graffiti street art mural and kitschy neon signs, you feel like you’re in one of the laneways of Tokyo.
Tunes
Guests can kick back and listen to DJ-spun tunes, or take to the microphone themselves in the venue’s karaoke room. The Karaoke room is bookable every night and caters for functions and accommodates up to 20 people.
Food
The street-style Japanese menu is casual and designed for sharing, with mouth-watering dishes including tempura softshell crab and temaki cone rolls.
Vegan and vegetarian options are available.
Booze
The cocktail list is quaintly named after Kill Bill characters – the owners are huge Quentin Tarantino fans – with sophisticated additions like the Johnny Mo, made with Suntory Whiskey, Ricard and sweet Vermouth.
