From the owners of Three Bags Full and Apte, Claremont Street's Two Birds One Stone is always a hive of activity. Inside this beautiful South Yarra café, suspension lighting, tiled walls and a bronze coffee bar creates a unique and polished space. The menu places a sophisticated take on all day dining, and just in case anyone missed it, all the famous homemade pastries are on offer too.
Two Birds One Stone is a bright, sophisticated cafe with a familiar sense of homely warmth. White panelled walls feature on one side of the 80-seater cafe; cosy booths and patchwork stained glass on the other. Five Senses provide the bulk of the beans and the menu includes espresso, clever drip coffee, aeropress, syphon, pour over and cold drip. Two Bird's understands that while some people will appreciate a single origin pour over, others just want a really good, hot, skinny latte. The menu is impressive but down to earth, with stand-out dishes like the impressive house-made crumpets with rhubarb jam, marscapone and candied macadamias, or crispy pork belly with Asian slaw and chili on brioche, and the down-to-earth eggs benedict or bircher muesli. They do everything they can in house: smoking their own salmon and ham, making their own relish and baking all their own pastries and cakes (including their famous cheesecake brownie).
