Set amongst the antique and art emporiums of Armadale, Zia Rina's Cucina delivers heartfelt Italian food and honest Italian wines. By day, a la carte menu delivers simple, rustic meals, like piadini with lemon-roasted chicken and pesto mascarpone. In the evening, the a la carte menu kicks in but for something really special, trust Zia Rina and order the three-course set menu that changes with the daily produce.
A career spanning 30 years began overseas in Abruzzo, cooking regional home style food at the local Trattorias. Returning to Melbourne a few years later, Rina continued training under Bill Marchetti at one of the city’s finest Italian restaurants, The Latin.
In 1998, Rina took on the role of Head Chef at another Melbourne institution, the Victorian era Mansion Quat Quatta, a boutique wedding venue. Rina oversaw a highly successful period winning several awards during her 9 year stint, none more notable than “Best Wedding Caterer” in the National Restaurant & Caterers awards.
After years harbouring the dream of her own restaurant, in 2012 Zia Rina’s Cucina was born and a thirty year devotion, passion and unmistakable love of delicious food are on show.
In 2014 and 2013 Zia Rina’s Cucina was a finalist in the Restaurant and Caterers Awards for ‘Informal Italian Dining’
