On the site of the old Queensland Rugby Club stands a hip venue with a distinctly classy touch; Black Bird Bar & Grill. The dining room is impressive, with luxe gold finishes, plush velvet couches and soft lighting. The star of the room is the view; huge windows look out over Brisbane River and the Storey Bridge. The menu is Modern Australian, with well-priced steaks and special touches, little Coffin Bay oysters, served just six hours after being farmed.
On the back of massive success with Byblos bar + restaurant Portside, 5ifth Element at Southbank and Byblos Melbourne, the Ghanem Group decided to give Brisbane diners something special and opened Blackbird Bar & Restaurant on the 28th of February, 2014.
Blackbird is housed at the site formerly owned by the Queensland Rugby Club and utilises the massive 1000 square metre space by dividing it into both a sophisticated and funky bar and restaurant space. While the venue maintains some of the Ghanem flavour the boys’ previous ventures are known for, there are also some incredible new additions.
While the restaurant has a clear flare for luxuriant steaks and fine dining, the bar flaunts the Ghanem reputation for first-class cocktails. Featuring an extensive cocktail list, paired with a grazing menu which will be available until late, Blackbird burst onto the scene as a hospitality crosspoint for fine dining and after dark drinks.
