Every individually designed room and suite at the Henry Jones possesses its own character, and tells its own chapter of the Henry Jones story. Historic and contemporary qualities are finely balanced original heritage features are celebrated and complemented by innovative design elements, hand cut sandstone walls hold compelling works of modern art, and rough-hewn timbers frame sparkling views of the harbour and city.
THE H JONES SUITE
The H Jones Suite is located in what was once the stately boardroom of H.Jones and Co. IXL Jam. Rebuilt in the early 1900s in art nouveau style, the administration offices of Henry Jones’ thriving company were a statement of success—soaring Tasmanian blackwood ceilings and glossy wall panelling, a grand main staircase and sunlight-infused glass skylights.
Now, the H Jones Suite welcomes you with quiet elegance and undeniable style. Soak in the ambience of this stunning suite and its collection of original art from your king-sized bed, or immerse in the Kohler SOK overflowing spa bath.
PEACOCK TERRACE
The Peacock Terrace once formed part of the original home of Jam Factory founders George and Margaret Peacock, and was later Sir Henry Jones’ private residence. The 1823 terrace is now the oldest standing building on ‘Old Wharf’ and houses Tasmania’s earliest spiral staircase.
A suite inspired by the history of Hobart’s settlement, the private and tranquil Peacock Terrace offers two elegant bedrooms, sitting room and kitchenette housed over two floors. The artwork selected for the Peacock Terrace interprets and reflects on the settlement of Hobart and the rich culture and history of this city.
ORIENTAL SUITES
Located within the original Henry Jones Ice House, and designed with a distinctly Asian feel, the Oriental Suites evoke a sense of serene harmony. Traditional Japanese design elements have been subtly incorporated in these rooms through carefully selected fabrics and furnishings placed tastefully alongside the earthy industrial elements of the room’s original architecture.
European-style stainless steel and translucent glass bathrooms are complemented by the room’s centerpiece—a completely luxurious Kohler SOK Overflowing Spa.
DELUXE SPA HARBOUR VIEW ROOMS
The Deluxe Spa Harbour View Rooms overlook Hobart’s stunning waterfront, framed by views of the city and Mount Wellington. These rooms feature original walls of heritage stone and age-smoothed timber trusses, columns and beams. A feature of these rooms is the lush, European-style stainless steel and translucent glass bathroom, and ultra-indulgent Kohler elliptical spa, which will invoke a state of total relaxation.
STANDARD HARBOUR VIEW ROOMS
As the name suggests, our Standard Harbour View Rooms overlook the Hobart waterfront and port, with views across the city to Mount Wellington. Most of these rooms also offer ultra-modern, pod-like translucent glass bathrooms, enclosing a spacious, walk-in shower. The Harbour View rooms vary in design and layout according to their heritage origins—some feature original stone walls and exposed timber trusses, columns and beams, while others are lined with the gleaming original Blackwood panelling of the IXL Jam Factory’s former administration offices.
STANDARD ROOMS
Located within the former IXL Jam factory complex, Henry Jones’ Standard Rooms have been created to exude character and warmth. Each room features an ultra-modern, pod-like, translucent glass bathroom, enclosing a spacious, walk-in shower. Walls of original stone and timber or fresh, smooth plaster showcase original Tasmanian art.
ARTIST STUDIO LOFTS
Poised at the edge of the elegant Atrium space, the Artist Studio Lofts feature separate sleeping and living areas, abundant natural light and original Tasmanian artworks. Luxuriate in your king-sized bed in the upstairs bedroom, which overlooks the elegant living space. Additional features include LED TV and DVD and high-speed internet connectivity.
