At Sixes And Sevens At Sixes And Sevens, 67 James St, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006, Australia

One of the oldest surviving buildings in the James Street precinct is home to Sixes and Sevens, a bar and gastropub. There heritage-listed weatherboard cottage dates back to 1878 and is now beautifully restored with a touch of plantation chic. The deck spills out to an open-air beer garden, which is covered in astro turf and full of patrons sipping boutique beers. Bar food like short ribs, toasties, fish fingers and antipasto boards, are designed for sharing.

Sixes and Sevens is a uniquely Queensland style Public House, reflecting upon a forgotten era, much like the way that the demolition on site revealed a number of postcards and photos found behind the hearth of the fireplace. The relaxed casual atmosphere has made Sixes and Sevens an everyday local for the New Farm residents and the broader community.

Housed in a gabled 1878 cottage, Sixes and Sevens embodies a low-key antiquarian charm with a contemporary twist. As part of its transformation from heritage wallflower to handsome public house, the venue’s classic white facade now takes pride of place on the streetscape. Inside, a variety of intimate lounge spaces and long tables of reclaimed timber create a welcoming haunt for solo locals, cosy couples and celebratory groups.

At Sixes and Sevens the food and beverage style is simple, clever, and affordable, designed to complement an everyday experience. Ciders, beer on tap, wine served from the barrel in carafes, and fresh cocktails served in pitchers to share are amongst the unique offerings at Sixes and Sevens.
