ACCOMMODATION
All our rooms come with the following:
Villa Rooms
The 5 Villa Rooms are in the main house and most have french doors leading to your own private deck. These rooms are suitable for up to 2 people. The upstairs room (room 5) can have twin beds.
Courtyard Studios
These roomy outdoor studios feature a fully appointed kitchenette, dining table and a comfy leather couch for 2 people.
The 3 courtyard rooms were originally the bathroom and laundry for the main house built in 1898. In the 1930s they were converted into a toy workshop and in the 1950s they became illegal apartments as was common throughout Ponsonby then. They remained like that until we purchased the property in the early 1990s and renovated.
Palm Garden Suites
These spacious suites are furnished with superking beds and the ensuite is equipped with a bathtub suitable for 2 people.
Designed and built in 1999, with the exterior made to resemble New Zealand colonial outbuildings which are still relatively common at the back of NZ houses.
The Penthouse
A spacious open plan room with a king size bed, dining area and lounge. Watch the sun set over the Waitakere Ranges from your private balcony. En-suite with separate shower and bath.
The suitcase rack has been constructed out of the wooden kauri bathtub that was in our house when we bought it from the grand daughter of the original owner and she was still using it. The room also has a chest of drawers from the "Shanandoa", a luxury yacht which was refitted in the shipyards next to the Kaiser's yacht so has the same brass fittings.
