YHA Ohakune Station Lodge is a 1906 historical villa located in the beautiful alpine town of Ohakune, adjacent to the world-renowned Tongariro National Park. A place for all seasons, the backpacker lodge is warm and inviting and is in close proximity to spectacular walks, ski fields and the mighty Whanganui River. YHA Ohakune backpacker hostel has been lovingly restored yet retains its unique and historical character.
Guests enjoy the use of extensive facilities including shared and private rooms, full kitchen amenities, two lounges, fireplace, central heating and a hot spa pool (in winter). We even have free WiFi up to 10GB for YHA members! YHA Ohakune offers a complete all year round experience in an affordable and stunning environment.
In winter guests return from their day’s skiing or other seasonal activities to the warmth of a roaring fire and all the comforts of home. During the brilliant Central Plateau summers, the scene shifts to outdoor pursuits and the outdoor woodfire pizza oven is fired up. Guests can enjoy friendly games of cricket or simply relax on the verandas overlooking the peaceful native gardens, while taking in the views of Mt Ruapehu.
The hostel is on the doorstep of the ‘Mountains to Sea’ Cycleway and is situated at the start of the Ohakune ‘Old Coach Road’. YHA Ohakune can arrange your mountain bike rental and shuttles, have secure bike storage, washing facilities, and trail maps, making it doubly convenient to explore the local trails.
