The hotel lies south of Edinburgh at the start of the Scottish Borders, on the main A68 route heading south from Edinburgh to Newcastle. The hotel is well placed to accommodate travellers and visitors heading north and south with regular transport services going in all directions. The Lauderdale Hotel was built at the turn of the 19th century and has hosted visitors locally and from all over the world ever since. The hotels present owners are the McKay family and the hotel is run by Wilson McKay with the assistance of his manager Mary Fallas. The Lauderdale Hotel consists of ten letting bedrooms and has been upgraded and modernised, with particular attention being paid to the need for communication facilities for todays traveller. The lounge bar and the residents lounge has retained the original open fires to welcome guests on a cold winters day. Live sports events are shown in the bistro bar. Food is served in the bistro bar, lounge bar and the more formal setting of the dining room.A large function room and extensive gardens and car parking lends itself to host large groups for all kinds of celebrations. Weddings, Conferences,Shooting Parties, Fishing Groups, Golf Parties, Coach Parties, Bikers Groups, Car Clubs and any other type of functions large or small.
