The Grand Hotel is truly grand by name and grand by nature. This magnificent listed, landmark building with its imposing stone fronted entrance way, period Victorian features and sweeping central staircase was built in 1872 and was once a summer residence of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland. It first opened its doors as a hotel in 1877 and since then the hotel has continued with its aim of offering the best in North East hospitality.
