We have undergone extensive refurbishment to upgrade and improve our guests facilities following flooding in December 2015. Some works continue as we install stunning 1st floor balconies overlooking Latrigg and Skiddaw, as well as a purpose-built luggage store and cycle store.
This town centre Youth Hostel has excellent access to the North Lakes Fells, and easy access to the amenities of this busy tourist town. For cycling, the hostel is perfectly placed on long distance routes the Coast 2 Coast and End to End and for roadies, Honister Newlands and Whinlatter Passes are close by as well as the family friendly Railway Trail to Threlkeld.
Overlooking the River Greta and Fitz Park with far reaching views to Latrigg and Skiddaw, YHA Keswick has small rooms with 2-6 beds. There is also a brand new Riverside Bar and Restaurant serving a varied menu of great food and drink. Less than five minutes' walk to the town centre and ten minutes' walk to the Lake, YHA Keswick is ideally places for days out.
Take the launch across Derwentwater and climb Catbells before an evening stroll through the town to Friars Crag to enjoy the view down the lake. The hostel also makes a great base for a walk up Skiddaw – the walk starts from just outside the hostel door! Near to leisure centre with pool and indoor climbing. Don’t miss the Pencil Museum and The Puzzling Place.

The ground floor social spaces have been re-configured to provide a newly opened reception/café bar and dining room with French doors opening over the river plus a new self-catering kitchen and social space with AV facilities and free wifi. In addition we now provide new guest accommodation on the first floor, all with en-suite bedrooms and river facing private balconies.
At YHA Keswick we strive to cater for everybody. Unfortunately none of our bedrooms or bathrooms is accessible to modern standards.
