A must for dedicated walkers! This former quarry workers' house, at the summit of Honister Pass, is in true mountain country with easy access to England’s highest peaks. Steep valleys stretch down from the mountains to Derwentwater to create a beautiful and distinctive landscape. There’s a 400 year old working slate mine next door.
The Hostel
YHA Honister Hause is a 26 bed Youth Hostel. The hostel is a former quarry workers' house which boasts self-catering facilities, a restaurant and laundry and drying room facilities. Our open plan bar, lounge and dining room benefits from a wood burning stove which makes the hostel really cosy during the winter months. If you've been out exploring (and, let's face it, with a back yard like ours, who wouldn't?!), YHA Honister Hause has a large porch which is perfect for hanging wet clothing and storing muddy boots.
Hire the whole place
This hostel is occasionally made available for hire on an exclusive basis. This means that you can have the place to yourself and choose how many of your friends, family, club mates, etc., join you. We allocate availability for exclusive use in blocks, typically up to 90 days in the future. If you are looking for space to stay with us on a normal shared basis, and can’t see any availability three months or more into the future, then this hostel may be being held for Exclusive Hire.
