YHA Coniston Coppermines is perfect for mountain lovers looking for great climbing holidays. Beautifully located, this hostel offers a 500ft head start on the ascent of the Old Man of Coniston. If you’re up for the challenge, scale the Old Man to enjoy incredible views from the summit. On a clear day it’s possible to see much of the southern Lake District, Morecambe Bay, Blackpool Tower and even out to the Isle of Man.
There are splendid walks and views to enjoy from this rural retreat and it's a great base for outdoor activity breaks and walking holidays. There's lots of culture here too with the National Trust's steam-powered Victorian yacht touring Coniston Water, Brantwood - historic home of artist John Ruskin, plus site-specific sculpture trails in Grizedale Forest nearby.
The Hostel
YHA Coniston Coppermines has 26 beds in a selection of dorm rooms and private rooms. The hostel has a cosy and relaxing lounge upstairs which has a wood burner for lovely nights in. Get inspired for your next adventure in the Lake District with posters, pictures and information - or just look out the window at the amazing view.
Walkers and cyclists will find lots to make them feel welcome. There is also a dining room where you can sit and indulge in something delicious which you've cooked up in the attached self-catering kitchen. Add to this beautiful grounds and excellent self-catering facilities and you've got yourself a great UK holiday.
Hire the Whole Place
This hostel is occasionally made available for hire on an exclusive basis. This means that you can have the place to yourself and choose how many of your friends, family, club mates, etc., join you. We allocate availability for exclusive use in blocks, typically up to 90 days in the future. If you are looking for space to stay with us on a normal shared basis, and can’t see any availability three months or more into the future, then this hostel may be being held for Exclusive Hire.
