New Ing Lodge is a Grade 2 listed 18th century farmhouse that now hosts a friendly 10-bedroomed guesthouse and holiday let. We are located in Shap, Cumbria in the beautiful and peaceful Eden Valley directly on Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route. We are ideal for groups and individuals interested in walking, cycling and other outdoor activities as well as for those just looking for a peaceful retreat in this beautiful part of the country.
We are open for holiday let throughout the year and serviced B&B and dorm accommodation from March to October. We also have a camping field and facilities. We offer evening meals as well as breakfast and have local beers on tap in our on-site bar, The Staggering Wanderer. We are committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible and have been awarded Outstanding Commitment to Responsible Tourism by Nurture Eden and a Gold Star Award by Green Tourism.
Our Bed and Breakfast Rooms
New Ing Lodge operates as a serviced bed and breakfast from March to October and a self-catering accommodation for the rest of the year.
We have 8 bed and breakfast rooms, which are on the first and second floor of the building. There are 4 double rooms (2 en suites and 2 with private bathrooms), 2 family en suites and 2 triple en-suites. Our guests may find a selection of fairtrade teas and coffee, homemade biscuits and kettles waiting for them in all the rooms as well as information about local facilities.
We serve our locally sourced full English breakfast between 7:30 and 9:00 in the morning. We also offer evening meals, which can be ordered before 18:30 on arrival and are served at 19:30. You can also order a packed lunch for the next morning on the night before.
We have a residents’ bar The Staggering Wanderer with local beers on tap and other drinks available. The bar is open until 8:30 or 9 o’clock on most evenings. There is also a comfortable communal lounge located on the ground floor with a wood burning stove, which is a great place to relax after a day in the hills.
Hostel / Camping
We have two 4-bedded mixed dormitory rooms located on the second floor. Both rooms have their own newly renovated bathrooms just across the corridor. Bedding is provided and included in the price of all the dormitory beds. The price per person per night is £19 (no breakfast included).
We have camping grounds for up to 24 happy campers per night in our back garden. Camping is £7 per person per night and includes the use of a shower and toilet room in one of the outbuildings. We have leveled grounds and picnic tables and plenty of room to ensure you have a great camping experience.
Both our dormitory guests and campers are more than welcome to have their evening meals and breakfasts with us and order packed lunches for the next morning.
