The Fat Lamb Country Inn lies on the crossroads of Ravenstonedale, Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen, offering high quality bed and breakfast accommodation and good food midway between the Lakes and Dales.

Situated between the National Parks of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, this friendly 4 star inn makes a superb base for exploring into these two popular holiday areas, or the lesser known North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The scenery all around the Fat Lamb is quite simply fantastic, and very varied. The differing characters of the Dales on one side and the Howgills on the other make this an excellent base for countryside lovers and walkers (both serious hikers and those just out for a gentle ramble).

The Fat Lamb has a long history of offering accommodation to travelers, stretching back some 350 years from its days as a coaching inn on the road from Sedbergh to Kirkby Stephen. Today the Fat Lamb combines modern amenities with good old fashioned hospitality, offering bed and breakfast or half board accommodation in comfortable, en-suite rooms. We are rated 4 stars by the AA.

The Fat Lamb has 12 nicely appointed & recently refurbished bedrooms, 7 on the 1st floor and 5 on the ground floor, which are wheelchair accessible. We have also installed a shower-chair accessible wet room in one of the ground floor bedrooms. There is level access throughout the ground floor, bar and restaurant included, and we have many years of experience in providing for disabled visitors. 

We are also a dog friendly hotel, and we go to extra effort to ensure we maintain our high standard of housekeeping when dogs have visited. There is a £10 surcharge per dog per stay (not per night) to cover the cost of this - please check our guidelines if you wish to bring your dog.

• Wheelchair accessible toilets are provided in guest bedrooms only.
• Access can be gained into all public areas of The Fat Lamb.
• We have five rooms on the ground floor. All have full wheelchair access to the bedroom and en-suite bathroom. Four have baths with shower over, the fifth has a fully fitted accessible wetroom with wheel in shower. Mobility rails are fitted alongside the toilets and baths/showers for added safety. Bath seats, bath boards, raised toilet seats and toilet frames are also available from reception.
• Within the Restaurant there is level access throughout, large tables are available and tables can be raised on blocks if required. Breakfasts are cooked to order, starters are served from a buffet table, waitress service available for assistance.
• We have regular experience of dealing with vegetarian, vegan, gluten free nut free and dairy free requirements. Any other special requirements are dealt with on a case by case basis.
• Service dogs are welcome in all areas of The Fat Lamb.
• Gardens are accessible to all wheelchair users, plus we have a wheelchair accessible bird hide overlooking the nature reserve.
