Located right in the trendy district of St Georg, our affordable design hotel is all about the nearby Alster river. The Inner and Outer Alster lakes offer fun and relaxation to sailing, canoeing and rowing enthusiasts, while the surrounding parks and art-nouveau villas form a stunning backdrop for extended, leisurely walks. But first, you will witness the wintry side of Hamburg at our reception desk: a festival on the frozen Alster river demonstrates the chilly temperatures our Hanseatic City can reach. Walnut blinds on the ceiling of our bar embody the gentle waves of the Alster river, while accessories such as sailboats, ferry lamps and sailor's hats complete the maritime design concept of our hotel.
Our Motel One Hamburg-Alster is located in one of the most sought-after residential areas of the city. Fashionable street cafés, boutiques and the riverbank of the local tributary of the Elbe invite you to meander.
The central location of the city places you at a stone's throw of its sights: Mönckebergstraße, one of Hamburg's main shopping streets, is within comfortable walking distance. The underground and overground train station Berliner Tor and the underground station Lohmühlenstraße right outside the hotel connect you to the public transport network. If you are arriving and departing by train, you will be glad to know that Hamburg central station is only a few hundred metres away from our hotel.
Enjoy a stay in our Design Hotel by the Alster river and discover why the popular German musician Lotto King Karl once sang: “Hamburg, my pearl – you beautiful city, you.”

Read All ReviewsReal surprise. I travel a lot. I was afraid of this low cost hotel but found the opposite.
Clean hotel, great stuff, accessible room was big enough. Roll-in shower was to good with water pressure. Can’t get these kind of things in this much cost. Amazing hotel.
