Tucked away on St Martin’s Court between Covent Garden and Leicester Square, J Sheekey is an iconic London restaurant which has been serving the finest fish and shellfish for over 100 years. Tables look on to the elegant oyster and Champagne bar with the full à la carte menu being served throughout the day from 12 noon.

The restaurant is a stone’s throw from many of the vibrant quarters of Soho. The National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, St-Martin-in-the-Fields and the cinemas of Leicester Square are just around the corner. The Royal Opera House and Coliseum, Palace Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, Wyndham's, Duke of York’s and Noel Coward Theatres are close by, making the theatre restaurant perfect for pre- and post-theatre dining.

J Sheekey has been offering the finest fish, shellfish and seasonal game in the heart of London’s Covent Garden since the 1890s, when stallholder Josef Sheekey was given permission by Lord Salisbury to serve fish and shellfish in St Martin’s Court, on the proviso that he supply meals to Salisbury’s after-theatre dinner parties. “Sheekey’s” was born, and more than a century later the restaurant retains its late-Victorian charm.

Its four inter-connecting rooms are hung with original photographs of actors from the 20th century that reflect its central position in the theatre world. Both casts and audiences flock here for immaculately sourced and perfectly prepared fish, shellfish and the famous Sheekey’s Fish Pie – and to continue the evening’s entertainment. In 2008, it was joined by the more informal J Sheekey Oyster Bar next door (now the J Sheekey Atlantic Bar). St Martin’s Court positively overflows with J Sheekey, its Atlantic Bar and their terraces.
