Nestling beside Loch Feochan in Argyll, Scotland, lays Knipoch Hotel (pronounced neepoch -och as in loch). This four star country house hotel is privately owned and run by the Craig family.
We opened Knipoch as a hotel in 1981 when the original building was refurbished with the reception, kitchen and bedroom wing being added.
Prior to this it was our family home with a history. In 1592, Campbell, Thane of Cawdor was assassinated here at the "house of Knipoch in Lorne".
In England as well as Scotland, hotels vary and individually owned hotels each have a personality. At 19 rooms (including suites and a triple room), Knipoch Hotel is small enough to care for our guests personally, yet large enough to be a hotel.
Three generations of the Craig Family run Knipoch Hotel, although the youngest are still in training!
Accommodation
At Knipoch hotel we have 19 bedrooms including two suites and a triple room. All of our rooms are en-suite, with combined bath and shower - and have heating, direct dial telephone, TV, radio and hairdryer. Each room has a delightful view of either the surrounding countryside or Loch Feochan.
Wi Fi is available in the rooms and public areas.
Well-behaved pets are very welcome to stay in the hotel bedrooms by prior arrangement at a charge of £10 per stay. We only ask that they are not left alone in the bedroom. For the comfort of our other guests pets are not permitted in the public rooms.
There is a superb walk behind the hotel where both you and your pet are safe and free to climb as high as you wish.
Things to Do
Knipoch is ideally placed for exploring Argyll and the Western Isles. We are situated 6 miles (10 minutes) south of Oban. The scenery is beautiful, with a panorama of mountains, lochs and islands unfolding around almost every corner.
We can arrange any activities for you, including whale watching, golf, fishing, whirlpool boat trips, etc. Take advantage of a number of scenic cycle routes, diving trips, relaxed garden walks or visits to historic monuments and castles.
Amenities
There are 3 individually decorated dining rooms, 1 with original 15th-century stone walls, all serving Scottish cuisine. A fully-stocked bar has a fireplace and an emphasis on Scottish malt whiskies. Other amenities include banquet facilities and walking trails.

Read All ReviewsWe arrived early and got into room without waiting, the hotel Staff are all great and very friendly. But for Disabled user this hotel is not good because there are 3 high steps, and no hand rail. I asked the lady on reception if there was another entrance but she was rude with me. Very disappointed!!
