The Royal Hotel stands in the centre of town close to the harbour and ferry terminal. Our central position makes us ideal for visiting the West Coast of Scotland as well as the Islands of Mull and Iona. Built in 1895 the 3 Star AA awarded hotel offers traditional Scottish hospitality within quality modern surroundings.
Complimentary Scottish breakfast is offered daily in an elegant restaurant, which serves traditional Scottish cuisine. There's a cosy bar and lounge offering cocktails and fireside seating, as well as Wi-Fi in public areas, event facilities and limited parking.
Accommodation
This deceptively large hotel boasts 91 bedrooms. Due to the age and nature of this grand old building all bedrooms are individual in size and shape but all have as standard – en-suite bathrooms, television, hairdryer, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. There are a large selection of room types available, including Family Rooms, and some of our rooms even have a view of the Bay.
Simply decorated rooms feature en suite bathrooms, tea and coffeemaking facilities, and TVs. Some have sea views or 4-poster beds. Upgraded rooms provide free Wi-Fi. Room service is offered.
Disabled Access Statement
Due to the age of our buildings there are some period features of the architectural mix that might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.
Please call the hotel of your choice to discuss your individual needs with them prior to booking to ensure that we are able to offer you a suitable room and comfortable stay.
We aim to meet the needs of our guests with mobility restrictions at as many of properties as possible including:
• Ground floor rooms at some of our properties where possible
• Lifts at all hotels (with the exception of the Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club)
• Designated disabled parking bays at our properties with car parks
• Accessible entrance ramps where needed
• Accessible bedrooms and rooms with walk-in showers
• Assistance dogs welcome at no additional charge
As we refurbish our properties we have, and will continue to, improve accessibility as and where practically reasonable within the footprint of our historical, and in some instances, listed buildings.

Read All ReviewsThe hotel is set on five floors and there is a lift so no problems for disabled or wheelchair bound visitors. Easy access into hotel from street for wheelchair users. There are rooms with baths but I enquired about showers and was given a walk in shower which was appreciated. Negative side from my end is the lack of parking spaces.
