Sgeir Mhaol is a family-run guest house whose name, pronounced 'Sgeir Vole', meaning in gaelic 'A Bare Rock', is derived from that of a lighthouse with a family connection off the Isle of Jura.

The house is conveniently situated at the southern end of Oban on the Campbeltown road, yet only 5 minutes walk from the town centre, bus, boat and train terminals.

Open all year, Sgeir Mhaol has a spacious private car park within the grounds.

The lounge overlooks a pleasant front garden, and together with the bedrooms are all on the ground floor. The house is centrally heated throughout.

Accommodation

Bedrooms comprise double, twin and family accommodation, all colour co-ordinated and furnished to a high standard of comfort, with colour television, tea/coffee makers, shaver points etc. Most rooms also have en suite facilities, and are non-smoking. All rooms have mini fridges, fans and electronic safes.

Oban and surroundings from Sgeir Mhaol

Oban and the surrounding area has a wealth of natural beauty with opportunities for walks, golf, fishing, sailing, pony trekking and a sports complex where swimming, tennis, squash and bowling are available. 

As a base for touring, Oban is excellent for cruises to the islands of Mull, Iona, Staffa, Coll, Tiree and Colonsay, and to explore the nearby islands of Kerrera and Lismore. By car or coach visit Fort William, Loch Ness, Kintyre and Inveraray.

Locally, The Sealife Centre, Cruachan Power Station and the island of Seil make excellent days out for the family.
