This is The Old Coastguard, a seaside hotel in the fishing village of Mousehole, near the beaches and gardens of West Cornwall, the Minack Theatre and the artists' studios of Newlyn, Penzance and St. Ives.

Fourteen bedrooms, nearly all looking out over glistening Cornish inland waters, with views to St. Michael's Mount and the Lizard.  And a dining room and outside terrace sitting atop a tropical garden that slopes down to the harbour wall.

Ever since we came to West Penwith in 2006, we have loved its slower pace of life, an opportunity for our guests to beat a retreat from everyday 'civilisation'.

We will work hard with our team here to help you relax and unwind, sleeping in comfortable beds and eating simple, well executed food that runs with the rhythms of the season and the coastal landscape.

We want The Coastguard to be at the centre of its local community with beer and drinks prices set for its regular customers, not the incoming tourists.

We're open every day and all year at The Old Coastguard: please do come and visit us and bring along your friends, dogs or children.

Sleep Well

The salty air of the Cornish seaside lends itself well to a good night's sleep, whatever Mousehole's seagulls might have to say.
So we've sourced only the best beds.  Our aim: to be bombarded with requests for details of where we find them.  Such has been the case in Wales and at The Gurnard's.

Each bedroom has a view of the sea, many with nothing between it and us save our garden and a few rocks.  Some enjoy a mere glimpse, others a astonishing panorama from a top floor balcony.

From many, the hypnotic St. Clement's Isle takes the eye, resolutely distracting one's gaze from The Lizard, St. Michael's Mount and departing fishing boats.

In each room, Roberts Radios, toiletries from Bramley Products, proper coffee and Cornish tea, soft linen and books with which to curl up on your bed.

Friendly service, a lovely large dining room with an accessible section for wheelchair users. Another point, there are steps, which could be a challenge for those with mobility problems, however as there were guests present in wheelchairs, level access must be available. There is enough parking space. Thoroughly recommended!
