Danesfield House Hotel and Spa is located between Marlow and Henley-on-Thames in Buckinghamshire, just 30 minutes away from central London. This stunning country house is surrounded by 65 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland. The Terrace doors unveil the beautiful private grounds with the River Thames as the backdrop. Walk around and discover the Italian and water gardens, tennis court and croquet lawn. This Grade II listed house was completed in 1901 and during World War II, Danesfield House was requisitioned as a base for the RAF Reconnaissance and Photography Section.
Spa Illuminata at Danesfield House
Spa Illuminata Danesfield House follows the steps of its sister Spa Illuminata Mayfair. An award-winning spa, specialising in overall wellbeing and relaxation, featuring a 20 metre swimming pool, eight treatment rooms, studio and fully equipped gym. The Spa offers residential experiences, day spa, treatments and health club membership.
The Restaurant at Danesfield House
The Restaurant at Danesfield House is known for great simple food. Chef Billy Reid is passionate about seasonal produce and our lunch menu changes weekly to reflect this. The Restaurant is located on the ground floor and comprises three dining areas, The Orangery, The Oak Room and The Terrace. The Cocktail Bar is adjacent to The Restaurant, the perfect place to enjoy an aperitif before dinner. In the warmer months The Terrace is ideal for alfresco dining, and many choose to enjoy our quintessentially British afternoon tea overlooking the gardens.
Are dogs welcome at Danesfield House?
You are welcome to bring your dog with you when staying at the hotel. It is important that you discuss this requirement during your reservation as there are only a couple rooms where we can accommodate you and your dog. These are Garden Suites and have direct access to the garden. Please note the dog will have access only to the bedroom and grounds, unless an assistance dog. A nominal fee applies on top of accommodation rate. There are a number of walking trails near the hotel and we would be happy to recommend dog-friendly pubs in the area.
What is the accessibility like in the hotel?
Although Danesfield House is a listed building, the hotel has adapted to offer a good level of comfort to all guests. For non-residents it would be good to know, The Restaurant is on the ground floor, same level as the hotel entrance. For those staying at the hotel there are a few rooms on ground floor. If you need any help with regards to accessibility please discuss with us prior to your arrival.

Read All ReviewsInspite of having booked a ground floor room for a disabled elderly aunt, we were given a room at the farthest end of the hotel there were many steps to the room as well as additional steps within the room itself. The Hotel was initially not able or willing to correct this mistake. The hotel is tired, the housekeeping staff is inattentive to cleaning details and the management seemed overwhelmed by our request for a new room.
