Not all those that wander are lost, discover Champneys Tring – the resort that started it all. As Britain’s original health spa, it is a location that has provided the backdrop to a vast array of innovations and wellbeing breakthroughs – where it has led, others have followed.
Born from the initial vision of eccentric naturopath Stanley Lief, it has been a bastion of health since 1925. While remaining faithful to its beginnings, Champneys Tring has also moved with the times. As well as a variety of innovative yet traditional spa treatments, recent additions include the relaxation hideaway, manicure and pedicure salon and the Wellbeing and Detox Centre, which is the first of its kind in the UK. The once Rothschild family-owned estate – complete with Downton-esque driveway – is set in 170 acres of idyllic Hertfordshire countryside and is accessible in less than 45 minutes on the train from London Euston. Kick back and relax. Whether you want a spa weekend for yourself or are looking to treat someone else, we’ve got you covered.

Read All ReviewsI use a wheelchair, so was looking to find a slightly wider space, with a nice easy way to reception. No signs for disabled parking, I could not find any wider spaces, and only the premier parking spaces proved to be possible for a wheelchair user, as the gravel car parks are impossible, the wheelchair just sinks. There is a lift to the second floor, but in case of fire it is not to be used. The swimming pool is accessible, a changing room for disabled people that has an accessible shower, and it is possible to get the chair to poolside. The pool is nice and shallow, 1.3 meters throughout.
