As one of the oldest inns in the World, The Olde Bell is a unique establishment that has captured the essence of English hospitality and complimented it with chic tableware, divine textiles and simple understated luxury. Arranged over 5 buildings, guests will be treated to a wide range of choice when it comes to accommodation. Larger parties will seduced by the beauty of the Malt house while couples or lone travellers can enjoy the minimalist character of classic, deluxe or luxury rooms.

Rooms

The Olde Bell is a re-invention of the traditional English Inn – providing eating, drinking and lodgings.

At the Inn, we provide honest creature comforts: sumptuous hand made mattresses, pure cotton sheets, with extra Jakob’s wool blankets to make you feel at home. The Olde Bell has 5 separate buildings with bedrooms and a variety of 4 grades of rooms which range from the sublime…to the ridiculously sublime! Our feather duvets are fantastically soft and comfortable. If however you require hypoallergenic duvets and pillows, just let us know when booking.

Main Inn & Malt House
These two beautiful buildings dating back from 1135 are brimming with charm and character and house our Luxury and Superior grade rooms.

Brick Barn
Our spacious barn holds our Deluxe grade rooms.

Tithe Barn
Located in a one story building behind the Tithe Barn, with Classic grade bedrooms opening directly onto a small courtyard.

Bell Lodge
This fantastic one story building opposite the Main Inn, houses more of our Classic grade rooms.

Disability Access

The Olde Bell in parts dates back to 1135 with some tricky access points. That said, we welcome absolutely everybody and do our utmost to work around the limitations of the old building in order to be accessible for all. Our disabled room is located in the Brick Barn and has an assisted bathroom. There are also accessible toilets on the ground floors in both the Malt House and Tithe Barn.

Eating & Drinking

The Olde Bell’s kitchen team serve simple, rustic, fantastic quality food making sure you’ll experience some of the finest eating and drinking in Berkshire. Much time and effort has gone into sourcing and building relationships with local farmers and producers of the best organic ingredients, creating seasonal and constantly changing menus. Wherever possible we use ingredients ripe from our own gardens to keep our menus fresh, appealing and honest.

We had been here to attend wedding function. On request we were provided accessible room, huge queen size bed, no wardrobe, no drawers but there was an iron, board, hairdryer and coffee/tea bits. Our bathroom was fairly good, quite clean and we did have hot water, I loved the walk in shower. Public areas are not fully accessible as it is old building. Food taste was lovely and kudos to all the staff, they were hard working and helpful.
