Score Valley Country House offers the personal service of a guest house with the tranquillity, space and comfort of a country house hotel. This splendid 18th century residence holds pride of place with commanding views over this secluded unspoiled valley, which has hardly changed over the years. The narrow lane leading to the circular drive ensures that the front of Score Valley Country House has remained one of Ilfracombe’s best kept secrets.
With ample parking for all our guests we believe we can offer you a peaceful undisturbed holiday or short break and a perfect base from which to explore the wonders of Exmoor or North Devon’s finest sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands. Although we appear to be in the middle of the countryside it is only a pleasant 20 minute walk from the hotel to Ilfracombe with its beautiful working harbour, shops, restaurants, Tunnels Beaches and other attractions.
We have eight bedrooms which have been individually furnished with king and super king sized beds, retaining many of the period features including some of the original fireplaces. Five of these rooms can be made up with twin beds. We also have a spacious single room for solo travellers. All bedrooms are fully en-suite, except one which has private facilities, and are equipped with generous hospitality trays, towels and toiletries, colour TV, shaver points and heated towel rails.
BEDROOMS
Score Valley Country House is a fascinating period property comprised of an original house built circa 1700 and the much grander main house added in the middle of the 18th Century. Many original period features can be found throughout and we have tried to retain the character and charm of the rooms whilst providing modern amenities and facilities.
Please note that we do not have any ground floor bedrooms and due to the layout of the house over three floors some of our rooms may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility. We are pleased to provide a brief outline of each room and if you still have any concerns regarding access please do not hesitate to contact us.
Single En suite

Located at the side of the guest house this is a sunny room with spectacular views across the valley accompanied by the gentle sound of East Wilder Brook meandering through the grounds, and you can enjoy watching the buzzards gliding high above the trees.
Double/Twin with separate private bathroom
