In a remote spot on the edge of Northumberland National Park, this traditional hotel occupies a historic manor house, 25 miles from the Scottish border and 40 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne city centre.
Clennell Hall is situated in the Coquet Valley on the very edge of the Northumberland National Park, nestling in the valley of the river Alwin. It is the ideal base for exporing the Northumberland Countryside.
At Clennell Hall Country House, we aim to provide an affordable and Personal Wedding service, to meet the needs of individual requirements and all budgets.
We can cater for both traditional 'Wedding Breakfast' options, or fine carvery buffet options - a more affordable option allowing you to cater for a higher capacity guest list. We can also give smaller wedding parties the option of a 'pre-ordered' wedding breakfast, upon which each guest can decide on their choice of meal.
If you wish to marry at Clennell Hall Country House, there are currently four different rooms licensed to hold civil ceremonies:
Clennell Hall Country House, also has a beautiful front garden, in which we are looking to license for 'outdoor weddings'. Enquires for this option are welcomed.
Rooms
The 11 bright rooms come with en suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking equipment. There are also 2 dorms with shared bathrooms.
We also have available 2 Bunk Rooms to cater for groups and individuals. Please see details as follows;
Bunk Room 1 with 7 Beds & Bunk Room 2 with 5 Beds.
Full English breakfast is complimentary (surcharge for dorms), and a bar with a pool table serves traditional pub grub.
Walking
Nestled in the cheviot hills, Clennell Hall Country House is the ideal base for exploring this natural countryside.
There are lots of walks, short and long, steep or steady going, with maps available from our reception. With Nagivate Northumberland, you can enjoy indiviudal guided walks, or make a complete walking holiday package.
Star Gazing
Clennell Hall is within the Northumberland National Park, which is currently campaigning to have the area designated as an official 'Dark Sky Area'. If successful, it will be the biggest in Europe and. together with Kielder, the third largest in the world.
The hall commands wonderful views of the night sky from nearby locations free from light pollution and is only 40 minutes away from the Kielder Obseratory.
Cycling
National Cycle Network Route 68, the Pennine Cycleway, runs from Derby to Berwick upon Tweed, passing by Clennell Hall. We have secure storage for bikes.
