In the heart of the historic fishing village, overlooking Port Isaac harbour, stands The Slipway.
Dating back to 1527. In the past The Slipway has been a smugglers hideaway and a ships chandlery. Shortly after World War II the building was converted into a seaside guest house and hotel. In 1969, due to its architectural and historic importance, the building was Grade II listed by the National Trust.
The Hardwick Family purchased The Slipway in the summer of 2016 and they are planning to return this historic building to its former glory, keeping the cottage character and quirkiness.
In its current form, it operates as a harbourside Café on the ground floor with an amazing outdoor terrace overlooking the port. Upstairs is a Bed & Breakfast with seven en-suite double bedrooms.
The village of Port Isaac, where The Slipway is located, became a popular filming location, and since the 80’s has served as backdrop to various film and television productions. It is also home to the group Fisherman’s Friends, a group of local fishermen who are a world famous sea-shanty group.
