In a semi-rural setting on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, this refined B&B is an 11-minute walk from both Wavendon Golf Academy and National Rail trains at Woburn Sands, and 0.9 miles from The Stables live music venue. Plush, contemporary rooms are individually styled, and feature free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities, as well as minibars with complimentary bottled water and soft drinks. All have en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, heated floors and designer toiletries. Cooked breakfast is provided, and dinner is available by advanced reservation (fee). There's a function space, a garden patio and a pond.
Rooms
Each of our rooms is uniquely furnished and decorated but all share the same high standard of finish, comfort and facilities! All are en suite, and each has under floor heating, open ceilings with skylights, king sized beds (as a minimum) with memory mattresses, flat screen TV, DVD player, work desk/dressing table and walk in showers. Wi-Fi is free and available in all the rooms – and the garden! Parking is plentiful, on site and also free.
Rates include an extensive breakfast menu, all of which is home cooked to order, plus daily newspaper and all taxes, including VAT. Wi-Fi is free of charge. On site parking is available and free of charge too. Outside the rooms is a patio area with tables just for guests, and all are welcome to wander around the extensive landscaped gardens.
Room One
This room has a luxurious separate bath in addition to a large walk in shower. A panoramic wall of glass provides a great view of the garden and also allows direct access to the guests’ patio. Large double bed, flat screen TV, under floor heating.
Room Two
Large walk in shower in luxurious en suite. This room is popular with guests because of the ‘wow factor’ lighting and real oak floor. Access to the garden isn’t direct but guests are welcome to exit through the house or go through the garden gates. Large double bed, flat screen TV, underfloor heating.
Room Three
This enormous (43 sq m) space is much more than a room: it’s a suite, a family space, honeymoon idyll or mobility friendly accommodation. The bed is extra large (1.7m wide) and there’s also a day bed, which accommodates one child or adult. There’s even space for another single if required. Mini kitchen, 42” Smart HD TV, under floor heating.
Room Four
Our new room is second in size only to Room Three. It has its own patio (via panoramic window) and room for another (single) bed if needed. It also has a mini kitchen allowing guests to store more cold items or cook some hot ones! Large double bed, walk in luxury shower, 32” Smart HD TV, underfloor heating.
Access
The house
South Lodge is a single storey building. We have never thought of it as a bungalow though; it doesn’t conjure up an image of that type of building. Nevertheless there are no stairs, just a maximum of two small steps up to the front doors, easily overcome by appropriate ramps. Once you’re inside, everything is on one smooth level. If you’re in a wheelchair you might like to know that all the doorways are 830mm wide or wider.
The garden
Access to the gardens is via the main house or from certain bedrooms (see below). Most of the flowerbeds are adjacent to paved areas, as are the sitting areas. All other areas are accessible via our lawns, which only undulate slightly at worst. The garden begins right outside the guests’ rooms, meaning a good view as well as easy access.
Disabled parking
In addition to the ample free parking adjacent to the rooms, there is an extra wide parking bay right outside Room Three (see below). Mobility impaired guests may choose to be dropped off directly outside the main house: again, there is ample room for temporary parking.
The rooms
All the rooms have walk-in showers with overhead or hand-held showerhead options. Rooms One, Two and Four have a metre wide glass sliding door that allows access to a private patio. Again there is one step down, and again we have ramps where needed.
For visually impaired persons some light switches have Braille translation.
Room Three
The door that opens directly to the dedicated parking is 900mm wide. The room is sufficiently spacious to allow free movement and a turning circle of 1200mm is possible in the bathroom area. This large suite also has additional features for bathroom use and moving around. Two washbasins at differing heights without pedestals offer ease of use for most people. Grab and drop rails are available over the basins, by the WC and in the shower. A portable shower seat is available.
For visually impaired persons the light switches colour contrast with the walls, which themselves are in a variety of shades.
