Close to the city centre of St Alban's Hertfordshire, formerly the ancient Roman city of Verulanium, and near the famous Abbey Cathedral you will find this lovely manor house hotel. Set in five acres of beautiful private English country gardens with its own one acre lake this country-style venue is, surprisingly, only 20 minutes by train from London.
The original house dates back over 500 years and was converted into a hotel in the early 1960s by the Newling Ward family. It still remains privately owned and managed, which gives the hotel its unique flavour.
The 30 bedrooms are individually styled with a blend of classical and contemporary décor to create a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. This welcoming feel is continued through to the lounge, bar, function rooms and highly-acclaimed orangery-style Lake Restaurant. All public rooms, along with many of the bedrooms, have excellent views of the garden and lake.
Non-residents can also enjoy the Lake Restaurant, which offers a wide choice of dining options from full breakfast through afternoon teas to dinner, as well as a bar menu. All of which can be taken on the terrace, in the garden or lakeside.

All our bedrooms have their unique style, but share features that include air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, large flat screen TVs, en suite bathrooms and, for added comfort, luxurious mattress toppers.
