Facilities include:
Our most spacious rooms many with separate lounge areas to relax and take in the stunning views of Lake Windermere and our glorious landscaped gardens.

The Lake House
Situated a short distance from the main building, this Lakeland stone building commands picturesque views across the main gardens to Windermere Lake and the mountains beyond.
The eight beautiful bedrooms are complemented with luxurious en-suite facilities including roll top bath, slate flooring and walk in wet room shower.
Outside a patio terrace adjoins to the lower floor, whereas the upper floor benefits from small private balconies. The main building is only a short walk across the garden, though private parking is available.
The Lake House is available for individual bookings, but can also be booked for one floor or both floors exclusively.
The Boathouse
A truly unique place to stay – right on the shores of Lake Windermere.
The Boathouse, built in 1896, stands proudly at the southern end of the garden and is still considered to be one of the finest boathouses on the shores of Lake Windermere.
At lake level it is used for the purpose it was created for – but set above this is a room with a view you’ll find hard to beat. Wake up in the morning and throw back the curtains (that’s if you bothered to draw them!) and you’ll be met with the lake in all it’s glory.
Facilities in the Boathouse are cosy and compact – with a fabulously comfy double bed and ensuite bathroom, plus a roof-top terrace where you can sit and watch the world sail by.

Read All ReviewsWe stayed here for 5 days during recent holidays. The main house is accessible through the ground floor, with just one step at the entrance for which they have an effective wooden ramp. I don’t think there’s a lift to other floors, but all the common areas – Reception, the piano room, the bar and the restaurant are all the ground floor and accessible without steps. The Lake House is a modern building and has level access to both floors – you can park very close to the entrance to either floor and then have level access to any room. We didn’t stay in a designated accessible room but found the Lake House rooms good for us anyway – we took our own shower seat which worked well in the large wet-room style shower and we could park so close to our room. he rooms are spacious with plenty of room for a wheelchair user to move around. There is at least one accessible room in the Lake House, which presumably has all the other aids – bars by the toilet etc. The only drawback with staying in the Lake House is that the short road connecting it to the main building has a significant gradient and has some very aggressive speed-bumps that would be difficult for many wheelchair users.
