The Ampersand is an elegant boutique hotel in South Kensington. This beautifully restored Victorian treasure is a small luxury hotel near the V&A, Natural History Museum and many of London's most popular museums. It is also well located for Harrods and shopping in Knightsbridge, Hyde Park, Chelsea and the Kings Road. With South Kensington tube station just across the street, all of London is within easy reach.

ROOMS

Our luxury hotel rooms in Kensington are inspired by the local London neighbourhood, with the design of our luxury London hotel rooms referencing five central concepts: botany, music, geometry, ornithology and astronomy. The Victorian values of discovery and wonder combine with a modern sense of whimsy to define all 111 rooms and suites, from the pattern of the V&A's costume collection, to the Science Museum's planets and phials, from the Natural History Museum's ornithological drawings to the drama and ceremony of the Royal Albert Hall. The eclectic style however, never detracts from the comfort that lies at the heart of a night well slept.

Amenities in our luxury London hotel rooms include complimentary WiFi, tea/coffee making facilities and soft drinks, 24-hour room service, LCD TVs with movies on demand, a media hub, laptop safe and air-conditioning. Toiletries are by L’Occitane.

SUITES

Our fourth and fifth floor suites have interiors inspired by geometry and views of the London skyline. All of them reflect The Ampersand's British sense of whimsy.

Each of these comfortable luxury suites has floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony among the eaves giving ‘Mary Poppins' views across London. There is a kitchenette with a microwave oven, a bedroom with a king-size bed, a separate sitting room, a freestanding bath and walk-in shower or a bath/shower combination. All the bathrooms in our Kensington suites have built-in TVs.

Two of these suites can also be interconnected to Deluxe Rooms, which works well for those travelling with families.

DELUXE STUDIOS

Our Deluxe Studios offer a residential sense of space, brimming with botanical references. Longer-stay guests will appreciate the king-size beds and sitting area, large enough to hang out with friends or spread out with work documents.

Ensuite bathrooms feature L’Occitane toiletries, while a number of Deluxe Studios have TVs in the bathroom; those that don't have grander, freestanding baths in the rooms.

DELUXE ROOMS

Our Deluxe Rooms feature ornithologically-inspired interiors with double or king-size beds and furniture to relax in. Details might include a chaise longue at the end of the bed or a comfortable armchair. Pillowy beds all have oversized velvet bedheads.

Some Deluxe bathrooms feature walk-in showers, others have a bath/shower combination.

SUPERIOR ROOMS

Our Superior Double Rooms, inspired by music, are more generously proportioned with double beds (or twin beds on request). They also allow for greater workspace.

Ensuite bathrooms feature either a spacious walk-in shower or a bath/shower combination. Luxury room details include toiletries by L’Occitane.

SINGLES & DOUBLES

Intimate yet luxurious, our Single and Small Double Rooms are inspired by astronomy.

All have small double beds with velvet bedheads and an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower or bath/shower combination. Beds come pillowy and the furniture comfortable, making this the perfect place to re-energise after a day in London.

These luxury rooms are ideal for single occupancy or short stays and have limited storage space

ACCESS STATEMENT

Arrival 
The hotel’s main entrance is located on Harrington Road; unfortunately there is no dropped curb for level access.
A platform lift is provided for step free access to the hotel and Apero, restaurant and bar, which is available to non-residents during the restaurants opening hours and to residents of the hotel 24 hours a day. Upon entry to the hotel step free access is available to the reception and bedrooms via the two guest lifts.
There is always a member of staff available for any assistance which may be required.

Public Areas
The Drawing Rooms are located on the ground floor and Apero, bar and restaurant are on the lower ground floor which are accessible via guest lifts.
All floors of the hotel are accessible by lift, Lower Ground to 5th Floor.
The lifts have audible enunciation, tactile buttons and a mirror at the rear 80cm – 180cm 
Refuge areas are located on each floor with a low level telephone and are clearly signed.

Guest Bedrooms
Accessible rooms are on ground, first and 4th floor and all are fitted with alarms in case of emergency by the bed. All of these rooms have been designed with wide entrance doors, low level light switches, power socket by the bed, transfer space of 140cm one side of the bed, Deafgard alarms are available providing strobe lighting and vibrating pillow upon activation of the fire alarm.
Bathrooms provide level entry showers with grab rails and shower stools. A pull cord alarm is also fitted in case of emergency.
