Located in Toronto’s beloved Kensington Market, El Trompo started out as a small business selling Mexican spices to help fans of Mexican cuisine cook popular recipes at home with their friends and family. From humble beginnings, owners Lucero and Hector Lopez began their business by handing out free recipes, which would allow customers to create their favourite Mexican dishes at home. This sweet offering would eventually encourage Hector and Lucero to bring the business full circle by operating a restaurant of their own. They would quickly learn that offering Mexican cuisine to the masses was the right choice for their business. Come visit El Trompo in Kensington Market to take part in a friendly and entertaining experience, paired with a warm and cozy atmosphere that local residents rave about. El Trompo’s delicious menu showcases a wide variety of tasty options for hungry customers all over the city. Fans of El Trompo always praise the great selection of tacos the restaurant has to offer, but you will have to see it to believe it. If you can’t be there in person to experience the wonder.
Offering a wide range of specialty dishes, El Trompo has everything you want to satisfy all of your hunger needs. Starting with their appetizers, El Trompo features popular snacks like nachos, chicharon de queso, and pico de gallo. Moving on to the tacos, you must try El Trompo’s house specialty, Al Pastor. This Mexico City style taco is jam packed with pork meat marinated in a traditional sauce, served on corn tortillas with pineapple coriander and onion. If that doesn’t already have you drooling perhaps the multitude of other taco options like chorizo, chuleta, bistec, hongo, quesongo, and chicken will. Read All ReviewsThis spot, serving up delicious and simple Mexican food, is usually always busy, but tables turn quick as service is prompt and food comes out fast and hot. Staff is friendly and awesome, fast service. I love the gringo quesadilla, simple but priced accordingly. Margaritas are super sweet and yum! Always great for a quick bite.
