Anna and Paul welcome you to WORDSWORTHS, where you will find a warm friendly welcome, first class accommodation and excellent food in this fine Victorian house. Furnished and decorated to a superior standard, Wordsworths combines elegance and comfort with a relaxed atmosphere where you can be sure of an enjoyable stay.

Introduction

Wordsworths Guest House is in Ambleside, Lake District and offers 5 guest rooms. The house is Victorian and over 100 years old and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. We are located on a main road and have rooms on 3 floors, there are steps into the house from the carpark and 3 flights of stairs between the rooms.

Alternatively, you can plan your journey by car or public transport using a journey planning website; simply enter your postcode and ours, which is LA22 0DB to get directions. The nearest railway station is Windermere, which is 3.5 miles away. Taxis are available at the station. Public buses are available at the station 10-15 minute drive. All buses can accomodate wheelchairs. The 555 bus runs every 30 minutes from the train station to Ambleside. The nearest bus stop is 250 meters from the guest house, ask the driver to stop at Kelswick Road. The pavement on the street leading to the guest house is paved.

Car Parking and Arrival

Our private carpark is accessed at the back of the guest house, where there is parking for 5 cars. The carpark has a stone surface leading to the back door. This is well lit at night by a motion sensor light. Entrance can either be through the front door by 2 steps, or the back door which is accessed from the car park through a gate into the garden and up 12 steps with handrails on one side. Assistance can be given with luggage.

Bedrooms

• There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor 1 kingsize bedded room and 1 twin beded room all bedrooms are en-suite. 
• The kingsize beds are 5 ft and the twin beds are 6ft beds. The single bed is a small double bed
• Furniture can be easily removed or rearranged.
• There is 1 single room on the second floor. 
• There is an additional 2 further rooms on the top floor. 1 kingsize room, and another kingsize suite room with an additional sofa bed sitting area which can be used for an additional person ( at extra cost ) . 
• Rooms are bright and evenly lit. Light switches next to beds to control overhead lights and wall lights. 
• All of our bedrooms offer the following: Lighting as above, good colour contrast between the floor , walls , and doors , short pile carpet , all bedding is non- feather, flat screen television with remote control and subtitles.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

• All rooms have en-suite bathrooms. 
• A level entry, step free shower.  
• The toilet height is 400mm/15.7ins. 
• The wash basin is in a vanity unit in the bedroom. Level tap on the wash basin.  
• Well lit with overhead lights with florescent light and shower socket over hand basin. 
• Good colour contrast between the doors, floor, walls and towels. White towels contrast with white bathroom walls with sparkly glass strip. 
• Non slip black sparkly floor tiles.

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors 

• All public areas, hall, stairs, landings, are well lit using overhead chandeliers. 
• There is a short pile carpet on the stairs, hall and landing. 
• There is a continuos flight of 17 stairs with hand rails on both sides to the first floor. There is a continuos hand rail on both sides of the landing. There are 12 stairs leading to the second floor with a furthe 5 stairs leading to the top floor.

Garden  

• There is a paved patio area which can be accessed from the dining room door by 3 steps. Table and chairs are available on the patio. 
• The garden is long with a paved path leading to the carpark.
