CRAFT Founder PJ L’Heureux has long been interested in beer. At the age of 18, he started brewing his own beer at his parents’ house. Much to the delight of his folks, that venture never took off. But his passion for beer continued to blossom.
A trip to Portland, Oregon – the craft beer capital of America – gave PJ a glimpse of the emerging shift toward craft brewing and local food. He envisioned creating a place where people could enjoy fresh local food and beers from all over the world under one roof. And so the idea for CRAFT Beer Market was born.
After working on the concept for a year, PJ approached his childhood friends John Liwag and Rob Swiderski about joining forces to make it happen. The three of them got to work, honing the idea, assembling a great team, and securing a perfect location in Calgary’s historic Beltline. CRAFT Calgary launched in 2011 and was an instant hit.
CRAFT has since expanded to Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa, with more locations on the way. As it happens, people everywhere love to enjoy great food and drinks in a welcoming environment (big surprise!) – and we’re passionate about delivering just that.
CRAFT Beer Market is a premium casual restaurant with over 100 beer on tap! All of our menu items are handcrafted in house using fresh, local and sustainable ingredients whenever possible. Located in the shops at Landsdowne, CRAFT is the perfect place to gather friends and family and enjoy great food and great craft beer.

Read All ReviewsThe high-ceilinged space with fans that reach helicopter proportions, lots of metallic elements and a 360 bar that wraps around the tap station was designed, like all Craft locations. Quick service, tasty food. Very busy at lunch time. Didn’t try the beer but a colleague of mine said it was very good. Worth visiting if you are in the area. Owner came by to ask how we enjoyed the food. Recommend for a casual meal.
There is little parking in this part of downtown but the restaurant is at a good intersection. While they have an elevator to the dining room specifically for wheelchair users, the bathroom accessibility door button never works so you’re stuck pulling this heavy door open. The bathrooms are consistently a mess with either no soap in some sinks, the garbages overflowing with garbage or the sink area is soaking wet and a mess. The sink faucets and attachments are loose and half the time some of the lighting is out which signals that the company does not care about the whole guest experience.
Onto the food. A huge feature used to be made in house but they’ve clearly shifted to outsourcing their food, shrinking their serving sizes and jacking up their prices. Their nacho barrel is $28 without adding protein or guacamole. The toppings are not layered throughout so half the chips are bare. The chicken strips come with 3 strips for over $20 which is abysmal considering they’re not the biggest nor is there anything special about them. I’ve consistently had different experiences with the kung pao dish where the first time it was really good but the last two were horrible and soupy and sweet.
Management seems to be a missing feature of this establishment. Servers and bartenders are alll helpful and letting me know when a keg is being changed or they’re out a product but I’ve never once had a good experience with their management team besides when speaking to Mike (? I think his name was) or Josh.
The establishment has gone down in quality while promoting sky high prices with small serving sizes
