Located in the midst of The Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens, the Botanic Restaurant is a stunning venue that serves classy Modern Australian cuisine among the greenery of a tropical rainforest. Boasting wide wisteria-draped verandahs and spectacular leafy views, the restaurant doubles as one of Sydney's most prized wedding and function locations.
The Botanic Gardens Restaurant is exactly what you expect a restaurant in the middle of Sydney's Botanic Gardens to be – breezy, summery, immersed in the gardens and ultra sophisticated. Using the original facade of a building constructed in the 19th century, this special place embodies the very spirit of the greenery it resides in. White walls, floor-to-ceiling windows and neatly-set beige tables and chairs create a blank canvas upon which the tropical garden outside casts playful shadows and patterns of light. A central bar invites guests to sample one of its wines, although you may prefer to breathe in a little bit more of the fresh outdoors by lunching alfresco on the wooden terrace.
The menu, like the garden outside, changes with the seasons and presents a fresh selection of six entrees and six mains. In the summery months lighter Modern Australian meals offer zest and lightness, while more robust dishes appear when the temperatures progresses into the cooler climes. Items which you may find on the menu include entrees like prawn three ways and mains like snapper with crab risotto and baby herbs. Although you may prefer just to pop in for a cup of coffee and one of the fabulous desserts – perhaps a frozen fruit souffle or an orange, passionfruit jelly with ginger granita and candied lime will do the trick? Breathing magic at night, the Botanic Gardens Restaurant is a prime location for weddings and other functions and can cater for up to 140 people seated and up to 250 people cocktail style.
