Swallows’ Nest was designed by an award winning architect and provides a recently completed self-contained annexe to the owners house. It is south facing and all rooms are at ground floor level with splendid views from all windows. It is situated at the end of a small lane in the centre of the tiny village of Birchover approximately five miles from the market town of Bakewell and seven miles from the small town of Matlock and Matlock Bath. There is parking for one car outside the property. Visitors are requested not to arrive before 2 pm unless agreed and asked to vacate the property by 10 am on the day of departure.
Introduction:
Andrew and Mary Prince welcome you to our self-catering cottage in the tiny village of Birchover. It is tacked onto our own house (Haresfield House) and is situated down a short lane from the main street in the middle of the village in a very quiet and peaceful location.
Before you arrive:
Take a look at our website at www.birchoverselfcatering.co.uk and enquiries can be made by e-mail, letter or telephone. Approximately one month before your arrival we will send you a route map and map of the village showing the location of the cottage. If you are travelling by bus the nearest bus stop is approximately 200 metres away. The nearest train station is in Chesterfield (15miles) or Matlock, a branch line from Derby (6 miles).
When you arrive:
Drive to the bottom of the lane and through a narrow gateway into a large yard, and park in the dedicated parking space facing the gate into the field. Five steps surrounded by railings and a handrail lead to the back door. A tarmac path leads round to the front patio door which has one step into the sitting room.
The cottage:
The whole of the internal layout is at ground floor level and the sitting room with its wooden floor and large rug contains an extending dining table and two dining chairs, two seater sofa and reclining chair, a satellite TV and DVD player, wi-fi access and a gas fired wood burning stove. From the sitting room is the kitchen with non-slip tiled floor and floor and wall cupboards. A small hallway leads to the bedroom off which lies the bathroom with large walk-in shower and non-slip tile floor.
Outside the back door the bins are marked for household waste and recyclable items. Visitors are free to wander around the garden as they wish, taking care to notice the large pond which is unfenced. Finally the cottage is suitable for visitors with restricted mobility but is not suitable for wheelchair users. Please do not hesitate to ask if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable and we will be only too pleased to try and help.
