Neatly nestled inside the elegant Chifley Plaza, Janus is a contemporary Italian restaurant under the helm of the charming chef Mario Percuoco. The restaurant offers a melange of booth and table seating, ideal for intimate corporate lunches. The food on offer is a medley of traditional and contemporary Italian fare, inspired by Mario’s Neapolitan heritage. If you are running low on time, head to the kiosk at the plaza’s entry for a strong coffee and indulgent piadina. Designed by New York architects Kohn Pederson Fox in association with Travis McEwen, Chifley Plaza epitomises the luxury and opulence of the art deco era. On the lower ground floor of the building, sitting snugly beneath boutique retailers and law firms, Janus is a popular Italian eatery that caters for suit-clad crowds. Bankers and lawyers converse over cappuccinos and cannoli in the early hours, whilst lunch time sees flocks of marketing Mongols snacking on mixed antipasti. The glass wine room, nestled under the plaza escalator, offers a good selection of Australian and Italian drops, with some elegant clarets hailing from Veneto.
