Kepos Street Kitchen Kepos Street Kitchen, 96 Kepos St, Redfern NSW 2016, Australia

Sitting snugly on the corner of Phillip and Kepos Streets, Kepos St Kitchen is the perfect neighbourhood café cum restaurant. Owned by former Bathers' Pavilion sous chef Michael Rantissi, Kepos serves Modern Australian fare with inspired Middle Eastern tweaks. Perch in the window for weekend brunch, or book a table in the cosy back room for dinner. Kepos St Kitchen sits snugly on the corner of Phillip and Kepos streets, blending almost seamlessly with neighbouring terraces on the quiet, tree-lined block. A few small, blonde wooden stools on the footpath and wide open door are the only things that give it away. The café is the first Sydney venture of Israeli born owner/chef Michael Rantissi, formerly of fine-diner Bathers Pavilion. He's kept the fit-out simple and homely, with polished floorboards, matte white metal chairs, and a stripy blue wraparound banquet. Floor-to-ceiling windows stretch around the corner providing a people-watching street view, their cream wooden frames helping to retain a cosy feel. The back room has no windows, though the white walls make you feel reassuringly cocooned, not claustrophobic.
