Arthur's Oysters and Seafood isn't your everyday Manly seafood joint. Under the guidance of head chef Jason Wright, there is a strong focus on not only using the best oysters and seafood available but to also educating its diners on where it is sourced from and making sure that sustainable methods are used. Hard to miss, the cosy diner is adorned with bright turquoise blue and channels that real seaside calm ambience. Arthur's is walk-in's only and does not take bookings.
The world, the ocean, our planet is something we belong to, not something that belongs to us. That's why we need to be mindful about how we source, cook and eat.
We think about the ocean and it's future with every selection we make. Every third breath we take is because the ocean is healthy (believe). So when we take.. we have to think about how (much) and why we are taking and how we can give back.
We're serving great wine and tidy tinnies for people to enjoy while sharing a few thought-provoking dishes in a space they can feel comfortable. We want people enjoying themselves, knowing everything is fresh and sourced mindfully.Putting the Hip Hop in Chip Shop.Enjoy eats by Jay while listening to some banging beats by Dre.
My name is Jason Wright and I have a problem...I hate pre-shucked oysters served on salt. In my career so far I've been lucky enough to run some of Scotland's best restaurants and picked up a few awards along the way, not that this was ever the goal.
I grew up around the shores of a proud ancient fishing village in Scotland, we had one of the freshest larders in the world, seafood is in my blood. I've long wanted to explore my passion for produce, combinations and technique in the antipodes, which is why I'm here.
My aim with Arthur's is good food, produced well in a way you wouldn't expect... (especially for the price you're paying!). All at the same time being concerned about the produce, how it's sourced and how it's served. I believe that customers come to my restaurant for an experience and it's my job as a chef and restauranteur to provide that, and hopefully get it right!
