From Ex-Momofuku Seiobo Chef Clayton Wells, Automata (pronounced "or-tom-eter") has opened on the ground floor of Chippendale's hottest new luxury hotel complex, Frasers Broadway. The restaurant is constructed on the site of the old Carlton United Brewery Administration Building and the Clare Hotel. The dining room is inspired by machinery and the five-course menu is to be constantly evolving. Wells takes his inspiration from rich flavour combinations found both in Australia and Europe, pushing the envelope through creativity and finesse on a plate. Automata is a top Sydney restaurant located in Chippendale. Helmed by Head Chef Clayton Wells who brings a movable approach to a frequently changing five-course set menu. Components stem from Clayton’s varied background at some of Australia and Europe’s dining institutions. Menus are formulated with freedom and energy that translates into the dining room, with beverages and pairings beyond wine. The warehouse style space along Kensington Street includes a mezzanine and communal tables.
PARKING
* Please note that parking is very limited in the Chippendale area. We strongly urge our guests to utilise an uber, a taxi, or public transportation to arrive at the restaurant promptly. We are about a ten minute walk from Central station, and about a five minute walk from Railway Square.
The Old Clare Hotel, of which we are affiliated with, does offer some valet parking. This parking is available on a first come first serve basis, and is priced at $25 for four hours. Guests may access the entrance to the hotel from either Kensington Street or Carlton Street, on the corner of Broadway. Guests will need to park outside of the hotel and walk into the reception desk to organise parking with the concierge. The hotel reception desk can be reached at 02 8277 8277, option 2.
