Introduction
High Fold Guest House is a five bedroom VisitBritain 4 star guest house located in the villlage of Troutbeck, which is approximately 3 miles from Windermere in the English Lake District. Regrettably, due to the age and design of the house, we have been unable to provide specific disabled facilities and we have no bedrooms on the ground floor. However within the limits of the facilities we do have available we are happy to help any of our less abled guests in any way we can.
Pre-Arrival
We are easily approached by road from the A592 Windermere to Ullswater road and parking is available within the grounds of the guest house. Public transport is not available in the village - although taxis may be ordered from Windermere. The nearest train station is Windermere which has good connections to the main West Coast line at Oxenholme. A telephone can be provided on request and a public telephone is available in the village. Guests should be aware that currently only the Vodaphone mobile network is available in the village.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Car parking is available in the guest house forecourt with provision of one car parking space per room. Access from the car park to the house is via level ground. The area outside the guest house is illuminated for guest access and safety.
Main Entrance & Reception
Entrance to the guest house is via a single step into the main hall. Check in is normally between 3.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m - although later check ins may be arranged. Check in is not normally allowed after 10.00 p.m. We are more than happy to help any guests with their luggage if required.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
Unfortunately due to the design of the house we have no guest bedrooms on the ground floor. All our bedrooms are accessed by stairs with 15 steps to the first floor bedrooms and a further 14 steps to our second floor bedrooms. High Fold Guest House has an automatic fire alarm with all bedrooms being fitted with smoke alarms. A bell will sound in the event of a fire and full evacuation instructions are available in all rooms. We are always on site overnight and would provide any assistance to guests if required. In the event of a medical or other emergency an alert button is available and clearly marked in the hallway. High Fold Guest House is completely no smoking and guest pets are not allowed in the house.
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
The dining room is located on the ground floor, adjacent the main hall.
Bedrooms
Unfortunately we have no bedrooms on the ground floor. All our bedrooms have king size, or super king size beds. Our two 2nd floor bedrooms have the addition of a single bed in each and therefore may be utilised as double, twin or triple rooms.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]
All High Fold bedrooms have en-suite shower facilities with 'step-in shower' cubicles. The Applethwaite suite has a standard bathroom suite with the addition of a shower over the bath.
Grounds and Gardens
Guest are welcome to sit on our outside terrace and enjoy the lovely views.
