Introduction

The Three Horseshoes Inn & Country Hotel is set in the peaceful location of Blackshaw Moor, near Leek on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

We offer 26 bedrooms ranging from traditional cottage style rooms to our contemporary executive and luxury bedrooms with massage tower showers or whirlpool baths. We have 11 rooms that are situated on the ground floor of our hotel extension, 2 of these rooms are suitable for guests with access needs.

Our hotel is only a 5-10 minute drive from the nearest town of Leek. Local attractions include Tittesworth Reservoir & Visitors Centre, Alton Towers and the market towns of Leek & Buxton.

Pre-Arrival

  • You will find the Three Horseshoes situated on the A53 Buxton Road just 2 miles north of the market town of Leek, right on the very edge of the Peak National Park.
  • For full details and maps of how to reach us, please see the location section on the front page of our website (www.3shoesinn.co.uk). Alternatively, you can plan your journey by car using the route planner on the AA website (www.theaa.com) you simply enter your postcode and ours, which is ST13 8TW to get directions.
  • The nearest shops/supermarkets are situated in the town of Leek. 2 miles away from our hotel. 5-10 minute drive by car.
  • The nearest bus stops are just outside our hotel on the main road (A53). The route no.118 runs every 3 hours to the towns of Leek and Buxton. The last bus is around 6pm.
  • The nearest train station is Stoke on Trent which is approx 15 miles away. This is a large train station with direct routes to Manchester, London etc.
  • All taxi’s within the leek and surrounding area are private hire and need to be pre booked with at least 24 hours notice. There is a list of companies in our guest information, or our reception team will be happy to book one for you.
  • We regret that we are unable to accommodate guest’s pets but do of course welcome assistance dogs.

Car Parking and Arrival

  • We have a large car park that can hold approx 70 cars. There are no reserved spaces for people with limited mobility. However we have 3 main entrances into our hotel so all car parking spaces are central to at least one entrance. We do also have room for people to drop off and unload outside our entrances.
  • Access to our hotel can be gained via a choice of 3 different entrances. Entrance 1 via The Hotel Reception is a flat and wide block paved path leading straight to the reception foyer and lift with automatic doors.
  • Entrance 2 via The Night Door is a narrower tarmac path with a manual door. This leads straight into the hotel foyer also.
  • Entrance 3 via The Pub has a flagged ramp and small step of 2cms.
  • All entrances are well lit at night with permanent outdoor lighting.

Main Entrance/ Reception/ Welcome Area

  • Guests are welcomed into the hotel reception foyer, which is level throughout, where they are asked to check-in. We have a low section of the reception desk for wheelchair users.
  • The floor surface throughout is short pile carpet.
  • Seating is available with 4 leather two seater settee’s and 3 tub chairs.
  • The area is well lit with overhead lighting and several lamps.
  • The lift is situated in this area.
  • Assistance can be provided with luggage.

Bedrooms

  • 20 of our overall 26 bedrooms are situated within the hotel extension and have full lift access. 11 are located on the ground floor with a further 9 on the second floor. The remaining 6 rooms are directly above the traditional part of our pub and restaurant. There are some period features of that part of the building which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.
  • Our beds are made up with duvets but sheets and blankets can be provided if preferred. Our pillows are dacron polyester as standard.
  • In every room type there is seating in the form of a tub chair and/or a desk chair. There is also a dressing table, bedside tables, bedside lamps and a wardrobe.
  • Flat screen Freeview digital TV’s with subtitles available.
  • Bedrooms 106 and 107 – have king size beds, 55cms high from the floor to the top of the mattress, with access from both sides. The doorways to these bedrooms are 92cm wide.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets (Ensuite or shared)
 

  • Bedrooms 106 and 107 both have an en-suite wet room. The wet room is level throughout and has: walk in shower, hand rails, sink, help pull cord (comes direct to reception for assistance) and toilet (40cm high).
  • The en-suite wet room is accessed via a 92cm wide, step free/level entry doorway from the bedroom.
  • The shower cubicle is accessed via a wide folding door.
  • Grab rails, horizontal and vertical, are fitted either side of the toilet.
  • The flooring is non slip tile.
  • The wash basin height is 76cm .

Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings and Corridors

  • All public areas, reception, stairs, and corridors are well lit with overhead lighting and lamps.
  • The corridors to the ground floor bedrooms are 127cm wide and the floor covering is short pile carpet.
  • There is one lift with audio announcements and large buttons. There is a mirror at the back of the lift and it is well lit with overhead lighting. The lift entrance width is 80cm.

Dining Areas (Brasserie & Grill/Bar & Grill) and Bar Area

  • The dining areas and bar are situated within the original part of the building. Entry can be via the bar entrance with a small step of 2cm or the gardens with no steps, but a cobbled and Indian stone path on a slight incline.
  • The dining areas and bar can also be accessed direct from the hotel extension using the lift.
  • The Brasserie & Grill is level throughout with hard wooden flooring. The tables have plenty of space around them. There is a mixture of upright chairs, with and without arms. Some tables also have seats with a padded back rest. The lighting is soft with wall lamps and floor lamps. Candles are lit on tables. The Brasserie & Grill offers full table service including drinks service. The nearest toilets and accessible toilet are on the same level just outside the Brasserie & Grill.
  • The Bar & Grill and Main Bar area is on tiered levels with several steps, some tiers are accessible through different entrances, i.e. garden entrance, hotel entrance, bar entrance and some fire doors can be opened to make easier access. The flooring is short pile carpet and it is well lit with ceiling lights and lamps. All drinks and food is to be ordered from the bar, the menu is mainly table service apart from the carvery roast. However our staff are always on hand and will be more than happy to help and assist you.
  • We will always do our best to accommodate people with dietary requirements. We offer a wide choice for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs. Where possible all of our food is locally sourced.
  • Breakfast for residents and non residents is served in The Brasserie & Grill. Depending on the number of residents the breakfast is usually full table service, however at busier times it is a buffet style. Staff are always more than willing to help assist you.

Public/Shared Toilets

  • Public toilets can be found at the bottom of the bar area. They have level access from the Bar & Grill, Brasserie & Grill and lift access from the Reception.
  • There is one accessible toilet. The entrance door is 90cm and there is level entry to the toilet. The toilet height is 40cm. There are horizontal rails at either side of the toilet.
  • All toilets are well lit by overhead lighting.

Garden

  • We have a large garden area. To the front of the pub there is outdoor seating, smoking shelter and picnic benches. To the rear of the building there is a large lawned area with children’s play area, flagged patio and decked patio with a range of seating, i.e. picnic benches, upright chairs with arms and no arms.
  • The gardens are accessible from the car park. The path is slightly rough with a gentle incline.
  • We have a water feature, shrubberies and many plants/flowers.

Additional Information

  • We have a set of evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency. Should you require assistance someone will come to your room and help you with evacuation to a safe point.
  • Room service is available 12 – 9pm daily.
  • Free wi-fi is available in all bedrooms and throughout the public areas.
  • The nearest hospital with a minor injuries unit is Leek Moorlands and is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. The nearest doctor is also located in leek town centre.
