Fratelli Paradiso Fratelli Paradiso, 12-16 Challis Ave, Potts Point NSW 2011, Australia

Potts Point restaurant institution Fratelli Paradiso boasts lip-smacking Italian fare and a brilliant collation of wines in a charming, modern trattoria. With over ten years at this Potts Point location, owners and brothers, Enrico and Giovanni ‘Johnny' Paradiso, know what their diners want. Fratelli Paradiso also encompasses a restaurant and bakery.

A bastion of Italian culture, restaurants like Fratelli Paradiso are what have made Italian cuisine a Sydney favourite.
Nestled on a Potts Point side street, Fratelli Paradiso has a loyal following of locals. A "no bookings" policy often means a small crowd lingers outside among the restaurant's mushroom heaters.
The day scene at Fratelli is a stark contrast to what diners expect at night. On a busy Saturday morning, yummy mummies swing by in their gym gear to pick up a takeaway skim latte and a ricotta cannoli while a casual crowd enjoying long, drawn-out brunches fill the ‘cafe'. At nightfall, the mood shifts and Fratelli transforms into a moody and intimate space, ready for intimate candle lit dinners.

The menu is written in Italian on large blackboards and the only translation guests receive is from the young, handsome and thickly-accented waiters. Naturally, this often means that the ordering process is an arduous one as diners tend to focus less on the dishes on offer and more on the eye candy in front of them.
The restaurant's interior is minimal and elegant with dark seating and neutral walls. A floor-to-ceiling bottle rack at the back of the restaurant, and large glass carafes of "house" wine, reminds diners how serious Italians are about their wine. The menu is small but defined. With over ten years at this Potts Point location, owners and brothers, Enrico and Giovanni ‘Johnny' Paradiso, know what their diners want. Pasta, fish, braised beef dishes and jazzed up salads seem to dominate. The ocean trout on cauliflower mash is big on taste, with the fish's pink interior falling from the crisp skin. A dessert of baked ricotta cheesecake creates just the right amount of sweetness required to finish a meal. Breakfast is just as pleasurable with baked ricotta and poached eggs a mainstay on the menu.
Robust, Italian and out to charm, Fratelli Pradiso is one of Sydney's best Italian restaurants.
